Embry-Riddle develops drone program to fight mosquitoes

Jonathan Hale, a senior in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems program and an intern with Volusia County, is developing a drone program to assist the county’s mosquito control efforts. So far, Hale has been putting together a plan for viewing and accessing remote and hard-to-reach mosquito breeding grounds — while making sure the drone activity complies with FAA and county regulations.
